Follow the River

Okay ladies, to begin I must say that I was told about this book from Marilee.  In fact, she was so adamant that I read it, she actually bought it for me.

It is called Follow the River by James Alexander Thom and it is phenomenal!  It is so riveting and compelling and I literally could not put it down once I got into it.  I'm not going to lie though...it is not light reading.  It is tense, heart-pounding, emotional, nauseating reading.  There are some very graphic, violent parts and one part in particular in the very beginning that will literally make you sick but if you press on you will be amazed at the power of the human spirit, and inspired to become a better person yourself.  It will even remind you that miracles do happen.

If you need a little distraction from the Cullen family, or something to pass the time until August, check this book out.

Thanks Mar, it really was fascinating and inspiring!

I read this book years ago, and have re-read it many times since. My copy is totally tattered! I've been trying to get friends of my to read this book over the years, but nobody seemed interested...they do not no what they are missing. I had to buy a copy of the book for one of my friends in order to get her to read it- good girl Mar! I'm with Shannon, it will inspire you, and touch you deeply. This book is on my top ten list!!

I read this book years ago and I still think about it ALL the time. I loved it and found the true story of this woman amazing.

(I just finished another book by this same author called Lewis & Clark...took me a long time (very meaty & dense) but I found it totally interesting and amazing what some of the early settlers had to go through to "make" and discover America. HIGHLY recommend also!

I'm so glad you loved this book so much Ju! It IS amazing! Tam, Yvette and I all read it for our book club and loved it! I'd love to see them make a movie about it actually! It would be amazing to see the visual of the woman's journey following the river home! If you don't feel inspired to read it let me know and I'll buy you a copy! :-)(or Louise will)

I loved this book! I kept reading, incredulous that I had never heard of this woman. She is amazing! Think of all of the hardships that we have heard about the pioneers facing. This woman was alone, naked without a wordly possession to her name. All she had was her determination, faith and courage. Incredibly inspiring and humbling!
