What did you think of Twilight?

I just got home from seeing the midnight showing of Twilight (yes it's 2:53 am right now) and I am interested to hear all of your thoughts on the movie. Good? Bad? Like? Dislike? I won't tell you my thoughts because I don't want to set anyone up with my opinion. Tell me yours though, and beware, if you haven't seen it yet, don't read the comments. You don't want to spoil it for yourself. I'll put my thoughts in the comments too!

I REALLY don't want to send anyone into the movie with their expectations too high or too low so if you haven't seen it yet, and you are planning to see it then, STOP READING HERE!!!! So here goes...my thoughts: I LOVED IT!!!!! Seriously LOVED it!!!!! I was really nervous to see the movie as I didn't think it could even come close to doing the book justice. Before seeing it, I didn't like who they chose to play Edward and thought the previews were all kind of low budget, weird! BUT, that all changed in the first five minutes of the movie! Edward was perfect, Bella was perfect and even the weird flying monkey climbing trees part was perfect, in a way...a bit odd but hey, he's a Vampire, what do you expect? All the characters were exactly how I imagined them to be and even Charlie's house was exactly how I imagined it! I also think the directors did a great job of creating the same tension and intensity that is in the book, into the movie! Honestly, could not have been more pleased! And can't wait for the NEW MOON to come out...they've all signed on to do the next one...YIPEE!! Can't wait to hear all of your thoughts!

I'm glad you got to go to midnight showing and I still have a few hours but couldn't resist hearing what you had to say! And since we're sisters and have the same taste I'm pretty confident that I will love it too! YIPPEE!!!

my initial reaction to the movie was that i LOVED it as well..... i have to say there were a few things i was disappointed about though. i thought the overall cinematography was amazing, but i didn't like how the scenes were somewhat rushed and did feel kind of low budget. i didn't feel the passion between bella and edward like in the book, i also was curious about why they added some of the second book into the twilight movie (the vampire attacks). that was supposed to be a direct result to James' death and victoria's revenge, so that was kind of backwards. despite my critiques, i did like the movie and am anxiously awaiting the new moon!

Just got home!!! I loved it! Okay yes, there were some cheesy tree climbing scenes, but that was the only funky part to me. Cinematography- very cool. The settings: house, Bella's room, Edward's room, school, baseball, prom - perfect!! The cast...perfect! Much better on screen than in print! Edwards subtle humor with Bella was great. Loved Stephenie's cameo shot in the cafe!! The intensity well done etc... So here's the overall for me. You just have to go with no set expectations, don't analyze it to death, let yourself just get into it and enjoy it. Definitely go with a group of besties- cut up, giggle, etc...Oh, and let your hubby out of the freezer when you get home ;) nice and cool ladies!

Overall I really liked the movie! Considering how much they had to condense it was well done. Edward totally did it for me, whatever it is. I was not a fan and didn't think he would pull it off. I felt like the intensity btw Bella and Edward was good. I will say, I thought Jasper walking around like he was scared to death the whole time was wierd. Rosalie wasn't nearly as beautiful as I thought she should be. You know just little things. But it was a HOT movie.

Fun reading your comments. I saw it this morning. Overall, I really liked it, too. Liked Bella and Edward together (I went into it unsure of this). Did NOT like Jacob, Jasper (hello WEIRD looking--I know, rude, right?), Rosalie (not pretty enough--another rude comment:), and I did think the tree climbing thing was a bit fake looking! Ha! It did seem rushed (they could have made 2 movies out of the book) but overall I enjoyed it and I can't wait to go see it again!!!!!! Oh, I also agree that Charlie, Charlie's house, Bella's room, the school, prom, truck, town, etc was all PERFECT. It matched my imagination exactly. Wish they would have made out in the movie a bit more, though. Tee hee!

AGREED!!! LOVED IT. I think there are a few things that we all agree could have been done better. Rosalie - seriously not pretty enough, Jasper was weird too. My major beef was the meadow scene though. Did anyone else get bugged by that? That was my favorite part in the whole book (and the reason Stephenie wrote it) and it was super rushed, and not even in the same timeframe of the book. if anything, they should have got the meadow scene right. I also thought that they didn't develop Bella's relationship with Alice enough, but time was an issue. They should have made it a 2 1/2 hour movie...it's not like any Twilight fans would have been bugged about that! I do have to brag though and say that I have been to a few of the locations that they filmed it at (prom scene, the waterfalls, columbia river gorge) and it made it so perfect for me, knowing exactly where they were. Edward did awesome i thought - totally dreamy!

YES. For the most part I was really pleased!! I thought some perfomances were fantastic. I agree with SHANNON! Where was our perfectly in love pristine meadow scene! I hated that it got mixed up with her discovery. I also would have LOVED to see the Blood typing scene-one of my favs. TOO MANY close face shots.
BUT ROB--Way to go! I think he pulled it off as did Kristen.
Charlie, Jacob and the HS kids were RIGHT ON. Some beatiful shots. And for the first time around and low budget, they did a good job. I have a feeling NEW MOON will be AMAZING!!!! B+

Well, it took me a month to finally see the movie... I thought Charlie was the best actor. Enough said!

I saw the movie when it premiered but just now found your blog (great blog by the way). A friend of mine read the books and described what the movie would be like, so I decided what the heck, I'd watch the first movie and if I liked it, I'd read the books.

I liked the actors, and thought the movie as a whole was well done, but was not impressed with a large portion of the plot. It seemed as though it was geared more for early teen girls than anyone else (i.e. oh my gosh he touched my hand kind of drama). I think it was worth seeing, and will probably watch the next movie but as I mentioned, was a little disappointed.
