Help! I need some advice.
I know this is going to sound so totally gross, but here it goes. My oldest son Tyler started getting some little itchy spots around his ankles about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I figured it was some allergy to grass or something at school. Then the spots started showing up in other places. On Tuesday I had had enough and took him to the Dr. The Dr. informed me that he is being bitten by fleas. Totally disgusting!!! Well, I have been freaking out, my pest control guy sprayed the yard yesterday and is coming to spray the house next week, but everyone keeps telling me that if they are in the house we would all have bites. Oh ya, and we have NO pets, very rare to have fleas around with no pets, my pest control guy is baffled. NO one else has bites. So, my poor kid has these stupid bites all over his body and I can't figure out where they are coming from. The only think I can figure is from someone or something at school. So, I emailed his teacher and they are investigating on that end. Have any of you ever dealt with this? I am suspecting it is one of the kids he is sitting next to in class, should I asked if he be moved and see if that helps? I just don't know what to do. I am totally paranoid they are in my house - it so gross.

Okay Heath...I would ask for the teacher to move him across the room or something from the kid that he sits next to, and see if it helps. Is the dr. sure it's fleas? What about excema or some sort of allergy? I would be certain that if they were in your house though, everyone would have bites...not just Tyler. Sorry dude, that totally sucks!
Oh, I'd freak out!! I'm sure they're not in your house, too, otherwise he wouldn't be the only one in your fam with bites. I agree with Shannon and think you should ask his teacher to move his seat to see if the bites then stop. Fleas are gross but I'm sure you don't have them in your house, especially if you have no pets! Does anyone remember how they used to do lice checks in elementary school? Maybe they need to start doing flea checks too, so kids don't pass fleas on to other kids!!
So I'm not sure they are flea bites today, so I am going to take him back to the Dr. I also sent him to school with bug spray on.
Heather...do they have chiggers out there? They're similar to fleas (very very small)...they get under the skin and leave little tiny red itchy bumps then hop to another area and do the same thing. They're not bugs from animals or contagious like fleas though...they're just kind of random like mosquitoes about who they pick. They are totally common in Texas (we got them all the time growing up)...just an idea...I have no idea how common anywhere else though. Poor Tyler...I would be freaking too!
You are hilarous! I love that you sent him doused in bug spray! Hope you find out what the deal is- I would be freaked out too!
I would definitly get a second opinion on the fleas. That's just too random if no one else in the family has bites. My little bro on his mission in MO. gets chigger bites a lot, could be those, Maybe? I want to know if the bug spray helped? That's funny, but I might have done the same thing.
