Hi girls- It's been a while for me too but still love this blog. I buy this Flax Seed from Costco. It is the best!! I use it in every recipe in place of eggs. Recently they have been sold out and I have had to cook without it. It actually makes everything taste better. I put it in our am smoothies too. I thought I had a pretty yummy whole wheat pancake mix but realized it was this that made them yummy and chocolate chip cookies just are not the same without it.
It has a two year shelf life - not sure how, but great for food storage, etc.

This book is seriously awesome! It has some fantastic ideas about 'Training' your kids to do the things that they need to in order to be successful, independant adults, instead of leeches. It isn't that the ideas are new, it is just that it puts everything you want to teach your kids into an plan of action that you can adapt for you. Not only does it cover household things, but teaching your kids about saving and spending and investing and all of that stuff. I am about half way through it and have loved it. Oh and for those of you with little ones, her plan starts with 3 year olds and goes right on through until you kick them out or your house to fend for themselves!

I wanted to share a recipe with everyone.....but it comes with a warning. These are so deadly sweet and delicious. Don't be scared by the ingredients, trust me, you will want to make these over and over and over again. Thanks Pioneer Woman, you rock.

Apple Dumplings

2 Granny Smith apples

2 cans of crescent rolls

2 sticks of butter (unsalted)

1 1/2 c. sugar

1 t. vanilla

cinnamon

1 small can of Mountain Dew or Sprite (8 oz.)

* Peal and core apples. Cut apples into 8 slices each. Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll. Place in a 9x13 buttered pan. Melt butter in a small pan then add sugar and barely stir. Add vanilla, stir and pour over apples. Pour soda around the edges of the pan. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon and bake at 350 for 40 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream or Cool Whip. Spoon some of the sweet sauces from the pan over the top. Enjoy. Go into a sugar coma.

So the first one helped me get through my first few months of Pregnancy. It is Mommy Bliss, Morning Sickness Magic. It didn't totally take all of the nausea away, but it definitely helped ease it and made me much more functional. I've heard of the Preggie Pops or some other stuff, but I don't like hard candy and so these worked great. They are all natural and have folic acid, ginger, B6 and Raspberry or something in them. I highly recommend at least trying them to see if they help. If you are pregnant that is. You can get them at BabiesRUs for about 10 bucks.

Product number 2 I discovered this week. My hair stylist recommended it. I have really fine oily hair and cannot go without washing it everyday. I have tried to 'train' it, but have had no luck, it still in greasy and stinky by the end of day two. I had heard of Dry Shampoo, but never taken the time to go buy it. Until last week that is! Who can resist a product called 'Rockaholic Dirty Little Secret Dry Shampoo.' I mean not only is it Rockaholic, but Dirty Little Secret, it couldn't be better!!! It is made by TIGI and let me tell you it is AWESOME! Really truly I love it. It completely solves my problem and now I can go an extra day without having to wash and blow dry! Being Pregnant and hot makes that an extra bonus. Give it a whirl. I found it at a beauty supply place for $18.95. Worth every penny!

Eating for Life

I'm writing this as I eat some sweet corn tamales from Bajio....so don't judge me. I am 8 months pregnant and trying.

So in an effort to eat better, my hubby and I are eating most of our meals from the Eating for Life book. If you don't have this yet, it's a must have. It's the recipe companion book to Body for Life, which totally and completely works.

I wanted to post a pancake recipe that I made this morning, and was SUPER surprised how delish it was. So very easy and nutritious. ENJOY!

Golden Pancakes

1 cup uncooked whole-grain oats (non-instant oatmeal)

6 egg whites, or egg substitute

1 cup cottage cheese

1/4 tsp vanilla

1/4 tsp cinnamon

2 packets sugar substitute

Mix in a blender until smooth and pour into hot griddle. Top with warm maple syrup and fresh berries. (and in my opinion, i would add more vanilla and cinnamon. or apple pie spice. yummy!)

There are also some great recipes for protein shakes, lettuce wraps, turkey meatloaf, and omlettes. Most of the stuff that I've tried from the book is pretty good. Can't complain when you're not eating a burger and fries! (which of course i'd rather, but i gotta do something!!!)

So this might seem a little odd but for those of you who love the citrus season I have to say, it just doesn't get any better than Costco right now. Every year I know that I can count on Costco to have the BEST grapfruit and clementines ever! My kids are addicted and it happens every year without fail. It is so good that if you thought you didn't like grapefruit and tried Costco's you might say, "I love grapefruit!" Same with the clementines. Sweet and Juicy!

So lately I've been thinking I need to get up to par on my food storage (for those of you who may not know what I mean, I'm referring to the LDS Church's recommendation to keep a year's worth of food in your home in case of hardship) . Some of you may have heard of this, but I was SUPER excited when I came across it. It's an international non-profit organization called "Moms' Club." I have been wondering how I could meet new moms with children my boy's age and find fun things to do. There seem to be groups in most of states. Click on this link (MOMs Club) and then click on "chapters" to find a club near you. I went to the open house for it a few days ago in my county and it was insane! There were TONS of moms with their kids at the park and I got to meet some potential new friends! Yay! They also gave me a calendar of this month's activities, and I couldn't believe how many things they do each month! You can go to as many or as few of them as you'd like. It was created for "stay-at-home" moms, but I found that the one I attended had lots of moms that also worked part time, or worked out of their home. You can also bring your children to ALL activities (except once a month they do "moms night out" where it is just mommies)! I am excited about it! I have just been feeling so "shut in," bored and lonely. No longer!

Adult Onset Acne! HELP!

Hey ladies...I need some help! All of a sudden my face has exploded into a zit party where every zit in the world was invited! Its TERRIBLE and strangely enough worse then I ever had on my face as a teenager. Soooooo, in an attempt to save a little money I opted to try PROACTIVE SOLUTION instead of seeing a Dermatologist. It seems to be working and my zits are drying up BUT, my skin is sooooooooooooo dry! I'm using the Proactive moisturizers but its not giving my skin what it needs since I started with really dry skin to begin with. I know at least a few of you out there have used Proactive so any tips to help with the dry skin would be appreciated!

Lion's House Chocolate Zucchini Bread

Here ya go Julie!

2 oz. unsweetened chocolate (2 blocks), melted
2 cups grated zucchini
2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup oil
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips, semi-sweet

Prepare two 8x4 inch loaf pans by greasing and flouring or by lining with parchment paper. Melt unsweetened chocolate and set aside. Wash and grate zucchini; set aside. Measure flour, salt, soda, baking powder, and cinnamon into a bowl, stir, and set aside. Place eggs in mixing bowl and beat. Add the sugars, oil, melted chocolate, and vanilla; beat until creamy. Add the zucchini and stir together. Mix in dry ingredients until incorporated. Add the chocolate chips and mix in. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes. Makes 2 loaves.

I've made this a few times and it's divine!!!

So this isn't really a we know the good stuff kind of a thing but there is nothing as powerful as a group of good women so I know I can turn to you girls for help!

As many of you know I'm taking my family blog private. I watched part of an Oprah show the other day that talked about child pornography in this county and I was deeply disturbed by it. On the show Oprah said that because of lack of funding law enforcement can only track and find 2% of the people out there who produce and trade child pornography. There is a bill, the Protect our Children Act, Bill 1738 that we need to support. The Bill would allocate $325 Million over the next 5 years to help fund law enforcement to be able to track and find and arrest and prosecute more of these pedophiles. We can support the bill by writing to our Senators. Please everybody go to www.oprah.com and find where it says "Help pass Bill 1738, the Protect our Children Act." Read the instructions on how to look up and then write a letter to your senators, encouraging them to vote yes on Bill 1738! There is even a pre-written letter that you can copy and paste!

I know that "we the women" of WKTGS can help make a difference!

Please tell all the wonderful women in your life to help with this cause! We need to protect our sweet little children.

ps--those who live in UT...don't bother sending an email to Senator Orrin Hatch...he is sponsoring the bill. There is another UT Senator that could get the email though!

Meals for the family on the go...

I don't think I would have ever picked up this book on my own but a friend told me about it. I love to cook but not necessarily what my family likes to eat. Often I hear, "can't you just cook normal food mom?" Anyway - so far every recipe I have made from this book my kids have enjoyed. The recipes are easy and the list of ingredients short compared to most of my books. We are always on the go. I've read so many different ideas for keeping family dinner intact in a busy home and this seems to work best for us - even if it sometimes 9:00 at night :( The reality of having children who play high school sports.

Sometimes I get into the funk of spending hours on iTunes, downloading random songs. And boy, have I hit the jackpot this time. Here's some of my newest favorites if you're looking for some new tunes!

Joshua Radin - Honestly EVERYTHING he sings is amazing. He totally masters the art of whisper singing. His new album dropped last week and it's awesome. Some of my favorite songs: "Lovely Tonight" (duet with Ingrid Michaelson, and it's gorgeous, on an older album), "Sky," "One of Those Days" and "I'd Rather be With You."

Amos Lee - His voice is just dreamy. Check out "Arms of a Woman."

Jon McLaughlin- He sang on the Enchanted album (and was in the movie) and I just die when I hear his voice. Listen to "Beautiful Disaster." Oh, and he's sooooooooo easy on the eyes...

Matt Nathanson - He's kind of Jack Johnson-esque to me, and I really like "Come on Get Higher." I remember going to one of his shows while at BYU, and really like his tone.

Karina - She's hip hop, but at only 16, this girl has got pipes! My faves are "Can't Find the Words," and "The Love We Got."

I have had a major issue with my dishwasher for well over a year now. Let me tell you why. One day, while my sweet 6 1/2 year old was tying to help with the dishes, he tripped over the dishwasher and pulled not only it out of the cabinet, but the piece of the cabinet that it attaches too. I have had zero lucky reattching that piece of board and thus the dishwasher because it is virtually impossible without removing the counter tops. Since that is not an option I have just lived with a rickety dishwasher. Well about two or three weeks ago, my silly efforts to secure it completely failed and I have not been able to open both shelves in the dishwasher or even just one really full shelf without the whole dishwasher tipping forward and the bottom drawer crashing out and rolling across the kitchen floor. To say the least this has been DRIVING ME NUTS! I am not proud to admit that a few swear words may have escaped my lips each and every time this occured! Hey, I'm not perfect! HaHa

The other day, I had a brilliant idea. After having seen this commercial a thousand times and thinking to my self, "yeah right like that really works!" I decided it was worth a try, what do I have to loose and if it works my dishwasher will stay in place. Well, I am most delighted to tell you all that it completely worked, my dishwasher is attached and secure! Yippy.

What is this magic product you ask?

Laugh if you wish, but this stuff totally worked. It was my last hope and I love it the MIGHTY PUTTY!

Fashion in the Kitchen!?!

I must admit that I have become obsessed with something!!! Back in May, just after my baby was born, I was knobbing around the mall trying to find the perfect gift for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day!! When all of a sudden I happened upon a little kiosk! I fell in love!! Flirty Aprons are the latest, most adorable fashion for the kitchen!! (at least in my opinion!) My husband surprised me with one for my birthday this past June, I've had my mom pick out hers for her b-day (bummer, it's on backorder), and then I just bought a half apron at the Women's Expo that I went to on Friday!! I've now decided to start collecting them....call me crazy but I've been wearing my new 1/2 apron for the last few hours and I was teasing my husband that I was going to wear it as my "housewife" apron!! (that's most definitely a joke...lol!) He thought I was pretty cute!! How to choose which one to purchase next!! These make the most adorable gifts--totally fun!

Le Mystere? Or Something Else?

Help help help! I am sick and tired of horrible bras! This is a question I'm throwing out to all you larger chested ladies. Meaning, D cup or bigger. I'm about a 38DD, or 40D, and I have about 20 bras that I can't stand wearing. My most recent purchase was at Lane Bryant (the balconette bra). When I first tried it on, I was like "whoa" because it makes "the girls" look super fab, nice and round, and high. Loved it! Then I started wearing it....argh! The straps are so far at the edge of my shoulders that they constantly fall off (so annoying). But the biggest annoyance is that the sides of the bra contain a piece of underwire that runs vertically kind of underneath the armpit (I think its purpose is to kind of hold the boobs in from the side). The thing that makes me crazy is that it comes up so high under my armpit, that it rubs it raw. So I'm trying to find the bra that will make me look great AND feel comfortable. I guess I'd say the Victoria Secret Body by Victoria is the most comfortable one I've got, but it's so stretchy that it tends to stretch out really quickly. I've heard the "Le Mystere" bra (found at Nordstroms and happens to be Oprah's favorite--pictured above) is really good. But it's pricey. At this point, I wouldn't care. As long as it was comfy! So, if y'all know of any great bras for us larger chested ladies....I'd love to know the "good stuff" about them like what kind they are and where you bought them. I am desperate.

I just wrote a similar post on my blog but wanted to put it here as well. Sorry to those of you who read both this and my family blog. Anyway...
The following story isn't, in any way, what I consider "Good Stuff". It, in fact, is one of those things in life that we almost never talk about when we have one of those "what if" conversations with someone. However, I decided to post it here in the spirit of why we blog. With all the scary things that can happen out in the blogging world with stalkers, and pshyco's, etc., there is ALOT of good that comes from blogging. Support, love and faith offered by total strangers, who, without the internet, would remain strangers forever.
Please click on this and read the story of a young couple, who are fighting for their lives after being involved in a private plane crash. You'll have to click on "older posts" about three times until you get to the August 17th entry. The sister of the wife updates the couples condition and tells an amazing story of love and faith as she shares their families experiences. I'm sick of paying full price for anything. I am an avid online shopper, I don't ever have the time to just go to the mall and shop, or go from store to store trying to find what I am looking for. I also don't mind buying 2 of each, trying them on, and returning via mail or store to store. I honestly think that I waste more gas driving around than I do for shipping. So here's what I found: I found baby bedding I loved on JC Penney.com. I decided to google "JC Penney Coupon Code" and found a WHOLE SCHLEW of coupon codes. One of the best sites is retailmenot.com. I can't believe I've never done this before, and this totally may not be new to anyone else, but I ended up saving $30 on my order with a free shipping code. They also had 15% off and 20% off codes that were dynamite. Can't wait for my new bedding to arrive!

I just KNOW your mouth is starting to water already. I made these little babies for the Olympic Opening Ceremony barbecue/celebration we had last month. Get it? China...Eggrolls? However, (at the time) I was in the mood for some Mexican food so wallah...problem solved!

DELICIOUS is all I'm going to say...

Ingredients:

1 (5 ounce) package yellow rice (I bought the packet that you just heat in the microwave for 60 seconds...save you tons of time)

1 teaspoon salt

1 pound ground hot pork sausage (I used Reduced Fat mild or you could substitue with chicken)

1 (15-ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained

1 (14.5 -ounce) can Mexican style diced tomatoes, undrained

2 cups (8 ounces) shredded Monterrey Jack cheese

6 green onions, finely chopped

1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix

28 egg roll wrappers (these are usually found near/in/or by the produce section)

1 large egg, lightly beaten

4 cups peanut oil (I used Canola oil...much healthier)

Instructions:

Cook rice using 1 teaspoon salt. Cool completely

Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat, stirring until it crumbles an is no longer pink; drain well. Let cool.

Stir together rice, sausage, black beans, and next 4 ingredients in a large bowel. Spoon about 1/3 cup of mixture into center of each egg roll wrapper. Fold top corner of wrapper over filling, tucking tip of corner under filling; fold left and right corners over filling. Lightly brush remaining corner with egg*; tightly roll filled end toward the remaining corner, and gently press to seal.

(*I used water instead of egg)

Pour oil into heavy Dutch oven (I used my wok); heat to 375 degrees F. Fry egg rolls, in batches, 2 or 3 minutes or until golden. Drain on wire rack over paper towels. Serve with Creamy Cilantro Sauce. Devour immediately!

Creamy Cilantro Sauce:

2 (10-ounce) cans Mexican-style diced tomatoes

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese softened (I used Fat Free)

2 cups loosely packed fresh cilantro leaves (about 1 bunch)

1 cup sour cream (I used Fat Free)

3 garlic cloves, minced

Process all ingredients in a food processor until smooth.

(for the health cautious...you could probably bake these in the oven instead of frying. I'm going to try that next time)

SAFETY KIDS

When Heather, Julie and I were growing up my mom bought us this activity/coloring book and accompanying tape called the safety kids. It is all about being safe. Don't talk to strangers, learning your telephone number, etc. The songs were so cute and catchy that all three of us have sung them to our own children over the years. Well.....a few months ago Heather and Julie found a website that sells the books and cd's. They have even added two more books. One is about drugs and alcohol, the other about pornography. All three books are VERY well done and are a fun way to teach your kids about important things they need to know to protect them. I ordered them and made my kids listen to them in the car on the way to Canada this summer. One of the songs talks about what to do if you get lost. It says "Look for a grandma or mother with children". Julie's little Natalie was in the car with me at the time and said "hey, my mom always tells me that".

I thought I'd share a couple of my newest favorite things:

1. I got this book while in Utah this summer:

It has FHE lessons based on the Book of Mormon. We are using it for our scripture study too. It breaks down each verse in the BoM individually and has questions to ask about the verses. My 5 year old does great with it! I highly recommend. Available at Deseret Book

2. The best book I've read in ages. These Is My Words by Nancy Turner. This is the first book in a series of 3 (so far) about a pioneer homesteader in the late 1800s. Very clean but a little violent with Indian wars and such. Seriously, a great read.

3. Febreze Pumpkin Harvest and Fall Spray smells so so good and is perfect to freshen up your house if you don't have time to burn a candle. I found mine at Target!

4. Burt's Bees baby products. I got a big gift basket full of these products after I had my baby and I LOVE them. My favorites are the buttermilk lotion and diaper cream. They smell divine and are very mild.

Dryer Balls - Good Stuff??

I bought a pair of Dryer Balls at Restoration Hardware and have been using them all summer. I never have liked using dryer sheets and am happy to get rid of them. I don't know that they have reduced my dryer time any though. Still worth it in my eyes. Any input?

So, I have been brewing about this for a while now. After talking with some friends, and as Marilee (co-creator of WKTGS) has chatted with some of her friends, we have come to the conclusion to post this.

We have decided to set a few rules for this website. I don't think there have been a lot of MAJOR issues, but I know that a few of our readers have been offended/upset by some posts. We have never screened posts before they get published, and I DO NOT want to do that. (Who's got the time)? But I would like to set some rules:

1. Please post about only good things...we started this site because a few of us were emailing back and forth about things we thought were amazing, and found this site to be better suited for that. This site was created in the spirit of GOOD THINGS, (hence the title..hehe!). Please keep that in mind when you are posting. I do love the posts about "what did you think of this" or "has anyone tried this" and that is not what I am referring to. Just keep in mind when posting, that EVERYONE has their own opinion about things, and we don't want to offend anyone by our strong opinions. Same goes for comments.

**this is in no relation to Alysha's post, although it spurred some dormant feelings for some people. this is something that Mar and I discussed long before that "heated" post and comments came about. no finger pointing at all here...**

2. Please be sensitive about posting "Utah Only" things. We have a lot of people on here from around the country, from California to Georgia, and sometimes a lot of UT only things can get annoying for those that live outside of the state. If you would like to post about an event, cool place, or something in UT, please make sure to invite everyone...some of our out-of-Utahers might be visiting and it would be fun to include them. Also, please include in your title "Utah Event" or something like that, so those that don't live here, can just skim over it. And those that live outside of Utah, PLEASE post about neat things in your areas. I love to hear what is going on around the country.

3. We need more posts! I know that the summers can be crazy, but last summer we had over 60 posts in 1 month! What happened to us? Life maybe? If you know of others that would like to be included in WKTGS as a contributor, you can email me at iloveparis32@yahoo.com with their name and email address. I am welcome to more people if they're willing to post. Those that haven't posted in over a year might see their name come off this list...(I'm just saying this to get my sister's butt in gear and blog!). But honestly...let's share the good stuff! If you have funny kid stories, neighbor stories, friend stories, let's share them too...it just doesn't have to be about "stuff."

Random Goodness

So here I am avoiding going to bed. (TJ's out of town and I HATE going to bed when he's not home) Anyhoo, some random goodies from my day that I thought I'd share!

The first is this goody from my trip to Costco today. I have a daughter who does not like Capri Suns, Kool-Aid juice etc. She loves Tree Top juice and Juicy Juice but I find the cost of that isn't worth the itty bitty boxes you get. I'd have to put 2 or 3 in her lunch to make it worth her while. So at Costco today I found a 24 pack of Tree Top Juice cans that are just a little bit smaller then pop cans. I hope she likes it and I remember as a kid always enjoying bringing cool things in my lunch like canned drinks instead of drink boxes. Hehehehe.

So I love cute David Archuletta. When the Idol final was on I really didn't care which David won cause I loved them both. If you haven't heard David A's new song "Crush" check it out! Its great!

Jon and Kate Plus Eight...need I say more? I LOVE this show. If you're not familiar with it, its about a family with twin girls who are 7 and sextuplets who are now 4. New episodes are on TLC on Monday nights at 8 mountain time, I think. But never fear, it is TLC so you can probably find 3 or 4 re-runs a day.

Tune in! Kate is an absolute RIOT and the show really inspires me to be a better mom. I figure if Kate can handle 8 kids, including 6 four year olds then what is my problem with one 4 kids who are 8, 6, 4 and 1? Besides that she is super super organized and the whole show is Reality Television at its best because its REAL! They don't hold anything back and it is pure entertainment. Besides that the kids are adorable!

And just as a side note, I started reading the Twilight series again today from the beginning. I'm not very far into Twilight but its so interesting to go back and read it with the perspective I have now! If you haven't done it and you have the time go back and read it! Its fun, and I've forgotten a lot!

That's it for me for now. Am I going to bed you ask? Nope! I'm gonna read some more Twilight!

I can't remember if I've posted this yet or not, but it's worth a second post if I already did. So here's the deal, when I shower, I like to smell clean scents. I don't want to smell like creme brulee, or a fruit basket...I prefer clean smells like mint, lavender, and eucalyptus. I stumbled upon this shower gel a while back, and continue to LOVE it each time I use it. It has peppermint oil in it, which tingles just a bit. It smells a bit like gum, but I love the freshness of it. It's a little on the pricey side ($12 at Bath and Body Works), but I usually find it on the shower gel sale for $5, and stock up for the year! If you wanna try something new, I highly recommend it. And the husband loves it too! It's called Mentha Body Vitamin Body Wash, by C.O. Bigelow...the same company that makes the yummy lip gloss at BBW!

For those that aren't in the know, (just kidding, I only know because I signed up for Twilight Moms and they send me update emails), TWILIGHT the MOVIE release date has been pushed up 3 weeks! The new premiere is NOVEMBER 21st, rather than December 12th! WOOT WOOT! For those that purchased tickets from me through TM's for the movie premiere party, I will let you know what is going on as soon as they let me know.

I'm just so excited I get to see it in November now, since Dec 12th was close to my due date! But let's get real, I'm sure I would have been there anyways!

Okay, so besides the Twilight series, I am going to blog about another love, FOOD!

2 Things, soy banana shakes and cinnamon rolls.

I make this shake practically every morning. I just love it!

1 banana (or 2 if they are small)

crushed ice

about a cup or so of Vanilla Soy Milk

a dash of cinnamon

mix in blender, it's yumm-o!

(even if you don't like soy milk, you gotta try this!)

And here is an awesome recipe I found for Cinnamon Rolls from Paula Deen

Dough:

1/4-ounce package yeast

1/2 cup warm water

1/2 cup scalded milk

1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter or shortening

1 teaspoon salt

1 egg

3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour

Filling:

1/2 cup melted butter, plus more for pan

3/4 cup sugar, plus more for pan

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

3/4 cup raisins, walnuts, or pecans, optional

Glaze: 4 tablespoons butter

2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 to 6 tablespoons hot water

Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside. In a large bowl mix milk, sugar,

melted butter, salt and egg. Add 2 cups of flour and mix until smooth. Add yeast mixture. Mix in remaining flour until dough is easy to handle. Knead dough on lightly floured surface for 5 to 10 minutes. Place in well-greased bowl, cover and let rise until doubled in size, usually 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

When doubled in size, punch down dough. Roll out on a floured surface into a 15 by 9-inch rectangle. Spread melted butter all over dough. Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over buttered dough. Sprinkle with walnuts, pecans, or raisins if desired. Beginning at the 15-inch side, role up dough and pinch edge together to seal. Cut into 12 to 15 slices.

Coat the bottom of baking pan with butter and sprinkle with sugar. Place cinnamon roll slices close together in the pan and let rise until dough is doubled, about 45 minutes. Bake for about 30 minutes or until nicely browned.

Meanwhile, mix butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Add hot water 1 tablespoon at a time until the glaze reaches desired consistency. Spread over slightly cooled rolls.

I will be enjoying these tonight around 8pm if anyone local wants to join in the gooey goodness!

I used to buy this brand of apple cider vinegar at Shirlyn's Healthfood Store and make the vinaigrette recipe on the side of the bottle until I saw this the other day at Harmons Groceries. It is yummy! I just take whatever greens I have in my fridge and at a little fruit and then top it off with this vinaigrette. This morning I mixed spinach, cucumber, celery, cilantro, and canteloupe - it was great! I have always been frustrated with premade dressings and have made my own - now I don't have to. Another good one is the Barefoot Contessa's "crudite platter."

A Nursing Mom's Breast Friend!

Okay, so as a new mom my memory, short term that is, has gone out the window. Luckily, I haven't thrown out the baby with the bath water, yet!! I was given this "lifesaver"...at least for my memory. Anyway, after Shannon's post about the pump bra I knew I needed to post about this AWESOME band that every nursing or even non-nursing mother needs! This one is obviously a little more on the "serious" side!

Check out their website...the Milk Band was invented by my brother and sister-in-law's neighbor and I was lucky enough to be given one!! I absolutely LOVE it and would recommend it to anyone who is nursing. Forget about the old safety pin trick of trying to keep track of which side you nursed on last. Oh and you can mark at what time you last fed your sweet little one! Hope some find this helpful!!

YUMMY - Mango Tacos!!!

So for some reason the other day I flipped on a cooking show on discovery health. The name of the show is 'Just Cook This, with Sam the Cooking Guy'. I thought the couple of recipes I saw him do sounded good and even more were easy! I like easy yummy stuff. I found his website and he had some great recipes that I am going to try.

Anyway, I saw him make this one and it looked so good. I finally gave it a whirl a week or so ago and both Steve and I loved it!!!!

Fresh Mango Tacos
Ingredients:
1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
6 small flour tortillas
2 tablespoon butter
1 1/2 cups vanilla ice cream
2 ripe mangos, peeled and diced small
Juice from 1/2 lemon
Honey

Combine cinnamon and sugar—mix well. Lightly butter each side of the flour tortillas and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

Place tortillas in a preheated non-stick pan and cook on both sides until lightly brown. Remove to plates and top each with vanilla ice cream and some mango.

Drizzle with a little honey and add a squeeze of lemon.

Seriously ladies, this is super yummy and really easy!!!! I hope you all enjoy

Lemonade
Recipe courtesy Paula Deen

2 cups sugar
1 cup hot water
2 cups fresh lemon juice
1 gallon cold water
1 lemon, sliced
Mint sprigs, for garnish
In a 1 gallon container, place sugar and hot water, and stir until sugar dissolves. Add lemon juice and cold water to render 1 gallon. Stir until well mixed. Pour lemonade over glasses of ice, squeeze slice of lemon on top of each, and garnish with a sprig of mint.

A Summer Must Have!

Okay, LADIES!!! This is a summer must have! I don't know about you but I have the worst, cracked, dry (gross) heals....but not anymore! Thanks to my mom who introduced me to the Ped Egg!! Let me just say...AMAZING! During my pregnancy I had the deepest cracks in my heals. You know the kind that bleed and feel like shards of glass are embedded with each step! Now that I'm not pregnant and can bend over or better yet, actually get my not so swollen ankle up on top of my other knee, I've used my Ped Egg 2-3 times a week just after my shower. You would not believe the difference! I know you can purchase the Ped Egg online, but I'm pretty sure I saw it at Bed Bath & Beyond! Definitely cheaper than a pedicure once a week! Get one...you can thank me later!

I just finished reading THE HOST! I would definitely recommend reading it. I found it really interesting. It was not as gripping as Twilight, but really good still. I find Stephanie Meyer has a way of making you really feel what the characters are experiencing and this book was no different. Hey Girls, Man it's been a long time since I posted anything. I guess I've just been waiting for that PERFECT "GOOD" thing to share. Yesterday I was talking to my friend about this AWESOME store that is opening over at my mall this week and I thought to myself "dang, why haven't I posted this on WKTGS yet?". So here it is!

A few years ago my mom started showing up wearing the CUTEST casual clothes! They were sweat suits, pants, shirts, shorts, capris, jackets, workout clothes etc. I was curious and so when I went to visit her she took me to this store in Calgary called LULU LEMON. I was hooked at first glance!

Since then they have started to slowly expand into the states. There is a store in Chicago, one in Newport Beach, etc. But, this week I found out they are opening one here, in Denver, at MY MALL!!! I'm sooooo excited! I promise you all that you will LOVE these clothes. Once you put on a pair of their cozy sweats you'll never want to wear another kind. They are perfect clothes for fun casual days when its raining or snowing, a day at the park with the kids (shorts) or a Sunday afternoon walk. They are as cozy as your coziest "schlepp" (ask Julie for a definition) but you look GREAT in them at the same time! (They even have a men's line that my dad, husband and brother in law and un - named brother in law LOVE!)

Swim Suit Season!

Alright all you hot mama's as swim suit season approaches I know all of us are on the hunt for that perfect suit! I totally found one! In fact I found one last year as well and so I thought I would share with you all my find. MODBE, not MODBOD, MODBE. My cousin is a consultant and last year after seeing her cute suit I inquired where I could find one for myself. This is the place. I now have a Bandeau top (super cute) and I have a Lace up top. The bottoms are great as well and cover really well. The skirts are cute too! The thing I really love is that they fit true to size, in most suits for me I have to go up a size, sometimes 2. The other thing I really love, some of your bustier women will appreciate this, is that your girls are fully covered. I mean you aren't hanging out anywhere! These suits are great, so check it out. Oh ya and if you need it fast, definitely expedite, they aren't the fastest at the shipping. Let me know what you all think.

Cheater Chicken and Pesto Rolls

The below recipe was found on Good Morning Utah. My friend, Shauna, made this for our Bonko night last week. I am making it tonight for dinner. I found EVERYTHING I needed at Super Target, including the rotisserie chicken. If you love Italian food like me, you will LOVE this recipe. It is to die for!

Cheater Chicken and Pesto Rolls

Cheater Chicken & Pesto RollsRecipe prepared by Angel Shannon, http://www.cookingwithangel.com/

INGREDIENTS:
2 tubes of buttermilk biscuits (10 count each)
3 Tbs of your favorite pesto
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cups rotisserie chicken, shredded
3 Tbs roasted red peppers, chopped
2 Tbs Black olives, chopped
Fresh Parmesan Cheese
Marinara or Alfredo Sauce
PREPARATION:Lay biscuits on floured countertop to form a 9 x 11-in rectangle (4 biscuits down, 5 across.) Using flour as needed, press biscuits together well.
Blend pesto into the cream cheese and spread mixture over entire surface of dough. Distribute chicken evenly over pesto cream. Sprinkle chopped peppers and olives over chicken.
Carefully roll up from the long end and gently compact as you go. With seam side down, slice into 12 equal sections. Place slices, on their sides, into greased 10-inch round pan or cast iron skillet. Drizzle lightly with sauce and sprinkle with parmesan.
Bake for 20-25 minutes at 375 degrees.

So, you all may have seen the movie "Step Up." But I just have to blog about it. I am in love with this movie...and I'm not even a dancer! I just dowloaded the soundtrack, and it's AWESOME to work out to. So, if you've never seen it, I HIGHLY recommend it! I haven't seen Step Up 2...(still in theaters I think), have any of you seen the 2nd one? Is it as good? I've watched this one 4 times in the last week alone...can we say addicted?

One of my favorite magazine issues of the year is on newsstands! It's the annual In Style Best Beauty Buys issue. They rate all several beauty products by categories, based on reviews and feedback from the professionals in the industry. It's always a good place to refer to when you want to try something new. It's also great that they often award both an "inexpensive" and "expensive" item within a category - that way if you don't want to spend $150 for your face cream, they provide a reasonable option.

It's time for me to replace my washer and dryer. I've had this whirlpool set for 8 years, and it needs to be retired. So I went to check out a new set, and hello, it's like we've been liv'n in the dark ages. The technology has changed so much!! With that said, I am leaning towards the Whirlpool Cabrio (top loader). Apparently it can wash a bigger load than any of the front loaders....and I am the kinda girl who religiously washes down comforters etc. I'm nuttsy about washing. I'm very particular. I wash a ton! I really need some WKTGS feed back. Thank you :-)

Follow the River

Okay ladies, to begin I must say that I was told about this book from Marilee. In fact, she was so adamant that I read it, she actually bought it for me.

It is called Follow the River by James Alexander Thom and it is phenomenal! It is so riveting and compelling and I literally could not put it down once I got into it. I'm not going to lie though...it is not light reading. It is tense, heart-pounding, emotional, nauseating reading. There are some very graphic, violent parts and one part in particular in the very beginning that will literally make you sick but if you press on you will be amazed at the power of the human spirit, and inspired to become a better person yourself. It will even remind you that miracles do happen.

If you need a little distraction from the Cullen family, or something to pass the time until August, check this book out.

As much as I try to keep my obsession at a low burn, too much is happening to do it. I saw this picture, and to me, it personifies how edward and bella feel about each other. TO ADD TO THAT, I am like a giddy schoolgirl awaiting the visit of the creator herself, Stephenie Meyer, to our humble valley.

Easy Medicine

So at my house we have all, well mostly, all been sick. Josh had a double ear infection and I decided to go to Target to fill his prescription because I had a few other things to get. Target is the best place ever to get liquid Antibiotics. They put a cap on the bottle with a hole just the size of the syringe they give you. So you can shove the syringe in there, dump the bottle upside down and get out the exact amount of medication right down to the last drop! It is awesome! There was no tilting of the bottle to try and get out enough medicine for those last few doses and it was also mess free. I guess they also color code prescriptions so everyone in the family gets a different color and you can tell just by the color whos medicine it is! Very cool stuff if you ask me!

Twilight Moms

Someone told me about this website - Twilight Moms. OK, I thought I was a Twilight fan and borderline obsessed with the series but these ladies at Twilight Moms are hardcore!!!. They have a Forum with tons of good info and they even have rules to join: 1) you have to be at least 25 years old 2) you have to be married and 3) you have to have kids.

So, I was browsing through the Forum the other day (you don't have to join to read - just to post) and they have a whole section of the Forum dedicated to the movie. Some of the "moms" live near Portland, where Twilight is currently being filmed. They have taken it upon themselves to become Twilight detectives and have figured out where they are filming, what high schools they are using, etc. But they didn't just stop there - they also decided to become stalker moms and stake out the set and actually got photos with some of the cast. The link below has pictures and then the accompanying story about each of the pictures they were able to get. Some of the stories are pretty funny (like meeting the cast, and the High School pics) - these ladies mean business and won't accept failure!! Check it out:

A Good Trick

I don't know about you guys but 2 of my worst chores are cleaning out the microwave and the fridge. My friend Alaina told me a good trick for cleaning out the microwave that I thought I'd share. As for the fridge, if any of you have a good trick, let me know!

Okay...to clean out the microwave fill a small bowl up with water and nuke it for a couple of minutes. The steam from the hot water softens all the crusted on oogies and they easily wipe away after that! Simple as that!

The Best Dip Ever!

I LOVE Kraftfoods.com, and found this most amazing dip ever.

Cheesy Spinach and Bacon Dip

1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, drained
1 lb. (16 oz.) VELVEETA Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) Cream Cheese, cut up
1 can (10 oz.) ROTEL Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies, undrained
8 slices Bacon, crisply cooked, drained and crumbled
COMBINE ingredients in microwaveable bowl.
MICROWAVE on HIGH 5 min. or until VELVEETA is completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after 3 min.

Okay, so when I made it, I also added extra cream cheese and about 1 tsp. of chopped garlic. I microwaved it and then when it was all mixed, I just put it in my crock pot for warming. I am not kidding when I say this dip far exceeded my expectations!

Ped Egg

I have to share my new fabulous find. Maybe you have seen the gross infomercial advertising the Ped Egg. The website is equally bad. But I have to say, I purchased one of these at Bed, Bath and Beyond this weekend and it works MIRACLES!!!
I have major feet issues that have gotten worse since I have lived in such a warm, dry climate. It has a microplaner on it that you rub over your feet/heals and takes off all the dead skin. It takes a little while but my feet haven't looked this good in months (maybe even years). They look better than they do after a professional pedicure. Don't order it online, just get it at BB&B for only $10.

Now I sound like the infomercial :)

Scream Free Parenting

So I have a toddler, as some of you guys also do! In an effort to make our home more peaceful and me to maintain my sanity as a full time mom and a full time employee, I found this book. I actually bought it on iTunes for only like $14 for the book, and I've been pleasantly surprised. Now, I know there is no book out there that gives you all the answers, and as we know, all kids are different...but I like his approach. He recommends that you learn to control your own anxiety as a parent, and your children will respond better. I also like the philosophy that you are not responsible FOR your kids, but TO your kids. Anyways, it was only about 4 hours of listening time (2 days commute for me) and I've started to listen to it a second time. Anyone else read it? If not, I recommend it...some GREAT ideas!

Hello everyone!! Remember me? I don't think I've posted in at least 2 months, maybe 3. Anyway, I now have a good thing to post about and WKTGS is the first place I am telling about it! Have you ever heard of the "WhoMI"? My girlfriend showed me hers today and it is AWESOME! It is a planner that fits in your purse. It is small enough to be compact, but big enough to actually be able to write things in. It has a section that is a month look and then a section that is week by week AND you can even keep your kids calendar in it! I know it sounds confusing but you have to see it to believe it! The website is whomi.com. You'll want to click on "2008 Collection has arrived". Then click on "Clarity Agenda", then click on "design" to select the size and design you'd like.
